The brand: Imogene + Willie
The Details:
*The cut is called Imogene.
*It was designed to look great on all ages and body types.
*Basically their goal with the Imogene was to design an everyday fit that blended vintage and modern seamlessly and stylishly.
* rigid 13oz raw Japanese denim.
* mid-rise, which sits above your hips (about 1″ below your belly button) and a slim straight leg with a 16″ leg opening).
The fit is a little different than I’m used to, a little higher waisted but I’m loving it. They’ve kind of created an entire new look for me for fall. I ended up having to size down 2 sizes – Ian at I + W was super helpful in choosing the style, size, length, etc.. especially since I was ordering everything over the phone. I’m digging these and I’ve been wearing them for the past week almost straight – which I rarely do, they’ve stretched just the right amount, and don’t feel like they’re going to stretch too much more- they’re perfect right now. Stoked about breaking these puppies in!
Lauren runs a fantastic shop down in Austin Texas called Bows + Arrows…
She is a fan of awesome denim, which I found out over drinks at the lobby bar of the ACE Hotel this past summer… She’s going to give us the run down on the denim and initial fit here soon, so I’ll keep this short till she adds in her two cents…
Thanks for contributing Lauren! -Ryan

Those jeans, and her pairing with the boots and the white tee look great. If only I could get my wife to embrace denim like this.
Love the pics. Just bought my 1st pair of Imogene + Willie last week. Looking forward to breaking mine in. I will come back to see your updated pics as you progress.
Diggin’ the bandana. Bows + Arrows is tops. I’d like to see more close ups of the fabric and selvage itself.
To those of you who have Imogene & Willie jeans, did you make a trip to the store for measurements & alterations, or did you order through mail? Nashville is a loooong way from Minneapolis. Thanks!
I have 2 pair of I & W jeans and ordered both over the phone with Ian. If you call, he will walk you through the process step by step and get you set up with what you need. Just make sure you know your true measurements. I am 5 months in on my first pair and 2 weeks on my second. One pair I had the length set for a cuff and the other I had set to my true inseam. They are hands down my favorite jeans right now.
Thanks iamamoody1, great advice. I’ve bought a few pairs of raw denim so far but always had the benefit of trying them on. I’ll give Ian a call and sort it out. ‘Preciate it!
this denim is very cheap looking and the fit is too boyish for women to wear.
The denim may “look” cheap to you and your opinion may be that the fit she is wearing is too “boyish” for her to wear… but that is opinion, so state it like what it is, your thoughts…
I’m sure, actually positive this denim is great and I thinks she looks cute as hell… so I guess we can debate then… right?
i love a good debate!
and my previous comment is not a knock on lauren, its on the denim. my thought / opinion is on the cut of the jeans, the cut is unflattering for women and the picture with the tag on them makes them looks like they are of jordache quality. and so that makes me question the $200 + price tag for these.
I am 6 months in to some men’s I&Ws and they are fantastic. Ian is definitely the key to getting a great fit/style. The denim used for mine is top notch; they are wearing hard. Highly recommend them.
I’m about a year in to a pair of 3sixteens STs and looking for a new pair to start breaking in. I love my 3sixteens, but I really love the fit of these on Lauren. I don’t think it’s unflattering for a woman at all, and frankly, it’s refreshing to see a woman in a pair of jeans that sits somewhere besides half an inch above her crotch and isn’t tapered skinnier than a legging. In fact, these pics pretty much cinched that I will be making a phone call to Ian sometime this week.
The fit is a little more boyish than most of us are used to seeing but I happen to really love it. I’ve had a ton of compliments on the jeans, they show my figure off than most jeans and I think its about time women do that besides stretch “legging” jeans. And c’mon – boyfriend jeans? now there’s a fit problem. I happen to dress a little boyish in general and I’m small so the higher waist helps. I don’t think these are for every lady but I think its nice to have a jean, like jaydub mentions, with a zipper longer than 1″ and my ass isn’t flashing the world when I sit down. Itt’s great we have another option than the norm. The denim is super nice and not too heavy but its wearing in beautifully. I love.
Good Golly Miss Molly! That’s a nice fit! I’m sure that those will break in well.
Hi there, just doing some browsing for my Jordache site. Amazing the amount of information on the web. Not quite what i was looking for, but good site. Take care.
Perfect fit in all the right spots. The higher rise gives a more thoughtful and finished look… with a hint of grooviness. Lauren totally rocks that denim!
I have a pair of I & W’s and the price is worth the product, and the denim is hardly cheap. I agree she looks cute as hell.
