Nom De Guerre | footwear looks

The summer in New England has been very warm, and as a result I haven’t put much additional wear into these jeans than what can be seen in my last post.  Therefore, the focus of this post will not be geared toward the break-in process.  This post is designed to illustrate to how these jeans look when worn with various types of footwear.  I find them to be a very versatile denim, and I frequently wear them in a number of capacities.  I have been just as likely to dress them up with a blazer and a dressier pair of shoes as I have been wearing them with work boots or a pair of sneakers.

Obviously everyone has his/her own personal style, so what works for me might not work for others and vice versa, but I figured this would be a good way to illustrate how Nom De Guerre denim fares when sporting a number of different “looks”.   Sometimes it can be difficult to get that kind of perspective trying on jeans in a dressing room.

Furthermore, I’m hoping this post will be useful for readers out there who live in an area of the country where there are no bricks and mortar retail locations that sell Nom De Guerre denim.  Hopefully the folks who cannot try this particular jean on and must turn to the internet to purchase NDG denim in relatively blind manner will find this post informative.

Since this is a shoe post…what are those red shoes? I like them a lot.

They’re actually J Crew sneakers. I got them about two years ago, but unfortunately I don’t think they make them anymore. Like it or not, it looks like J Crew is increasingly moving away from a lot of its own-brand products and replacing these sku’s with more venerable, aspirational (and usually much more expensive) brands.

The dark blue boat shoes are my favorite! What other kind of jeans (or regular trousers?) do you match them with?

Sorry, just saw all these questions. Here are the answers…

    (1) I’ll often pair the blue boat shoes up with khaki’s, but I’ll sometimes wear them with my APC New Standards as well.
    (2) The white sneakers are Generic Surplus
    (3) The boots are Timberland Abington Collection. They are the most comfortable piece of footwear I can ever remember wearing, I wear them all the time.
    (4) Those boat shoes aren’t actually black…they began as the nubuck Sperry/J. Crew chucka collaboration. But I beat them to hell walking all over Europe during a three week backpacking trip, so I oiled them up with some Dr. Martins leather oil to bring them back to life.
