Jean Shop – 7 Months In

As noted before, I bought these Jeans Shop Rockers at marked size 32. They fit me dead straight and loose but the butt was too baggy, so decided to try and shrink them. I soaked them inside out for an hour in very warm water, no detergent, then hung outside to dry. So didn’t “wash” them in the conventional sense but was really trying to shrink them. Before/after pics are taken with 2 different cameras so not completely apples to apples but the color has held almost perfectly, and the jeans appear less wrinkled -as one might expect.

The length shrank maybe an inch; the waist barely shrank, but the non-seamed denim, the denim round the legs and butt and crotch did shrink. Good, needed that.

One oddity though, at the back, where 4 pieces of denim meet (legs/waist panels and waist band) there has been some puckering that is unattractive (side shot above, Pendleton madras via Blackbird’s Field House -thx hun!) but JeanShop say that as the waist loosens that will disappear. If that is true then I’ll be happy…

**Important note; I chose these Rocker jeans online and would have been better to have had them fitted in a smaller size. Jeans Shop staff assure me a properly sized jean would not exhibit the puckering as below. Lesson learned… now let’s wear out some jeans. – James

    WOW. That looks like too much fabric in the seat. It seems your wash with shrinkage made it more evident as I looked at the pre wash fliks. If it’s not really doing that in the front, then its’s more likely you have too much in the back rise measurement.

    Looks like the soak helped out quite a bit in the ‘puckering’ area, and with hardly any color loss. Nice work.

    My Rockers have the same exact pucker in the back. Maybe I’ll try the warm soak as well. Good work on the wear.

    Keep us updated on that pucker in the back. That looks suspiciously like a design flaw, and for what they charge that is a serious problem.

    @rep you may be right.
    @others. i never even noticed till Mrs. 10e told me… but i think the soak did tighten up that loose fabric.

    Point of reference: Mine, about two weeks in, has the same pucker (but not quite as extreme). I’m a bit confused, is the pucker picture from before or after the wash? Just curious if it became more prominent after washing.

    You know what I hate? That I don’t get Knee wear like you have, lol. I sit for most of the day but the only thing I think I’m doing is stretching out the Knee area. I like how it’s coming out, like You put in some work!

    @billy. agreed.
    @JSL the pucker pic is after the wash. though it existed before too (but pants were looser slo slung a bit lower and not as noticable i think)

    That’s a relief jfox. Looking forward to getting anywhere near your fades… gonna take quite a bit of time :)
    How often and how long do you wear your pair?

    I should not just assume people are following the whole thread of my update so I want to add a comment here and in the main text above to clarify; for the purpose of this DenimDebate I chose these Rocker jeans online and would have benefited from having them fitted “live” -would have chosen a smaller size in retrospect, as I noted in month 5. Jeans Shop staff assure me a properly sized jean would not exhibit the puckering -and I have absolutely no problem with that assurance. Lesson learned.

    See, that is what this whole debate is for… learning the little quirks.
    Moving on -it is good manners to dance with the girl you brought, so let’s wear the hell out of these jeans…

    wow the wash made the color look nice and a bit newer in a way

    I don’t know if I buy that line that a properly fitted jean wouldn’t give the pucker. I bought the same jeans and tried them on in store. I bought a size 32. The size 31 were so testicularly restrictive that it would be been a suicide mission.

    So I bought the 32s and mine too have the back pucker.

    I’m gonna do a warm soak today and see what happens.

    Forget about the puckering. You just have a flat ass. I suggest you do some squats and lunges to give your ass some bulge.
